In my school our management do not implement guidelines, their sole aim appears to be keeping up appearances and being seen as perfect. Our principal continues to pile more on our plates and has even stood in front of us when presenting the Evidence for Learning platform and said ‘this will be a lot more work but it’s worth it for the kids’ -no changes to a DTB that already has fantasy figures, no additions to non contact time given (not that we even get our 10% PPA anyway). Just an expectation that we’ll get on with it because, to quote management, ‘you’re salaried just get the work done’. Another lovely quote from managers the last day before midterm as PLPs were returned ‘you’re lucky, you don’t have much to do on these over midterm’. Unless these changes are clear, enforceable and monitored my workload won’t change. I was keeping up by the skin of my teeth but after my home life hit the rocks and I couldn’t do as many hours at home I’ve started drowning in work. I don’t have the time to do much other that keep my kids alive and safe! I am failing them and it’s breaking my heart!
